چکیده

Abstract The covariant particle-vibration coupling model within the time blocking approximation is employed to supplement the Relativistic Random Phase Approximation (RRPA) with coupling to collective vibrations. The Bethe-Salpeter equation in the particle-hole channel with an energy dependent residual particle-hole (p-h) interaction is formulated and solved in the shell-model Dirac basis as well as in the momentum space. The same set of the coupling constants generates the DiracHartree single-particle spectrum, the static part of the residual p-h interaction and the particlephonon coupling amplitudes. This approach is applied to quantitative description of damping phenomenon in even-even spherical nuclei with closed shells 208Pb and 132Sn. Since the phonon coupling enriches the RRPA spectrum with a multitude of ph⊗phonon states a noticeable fragmentation of giant monopole and dipole resonances is obtained in the examined nuclei. The results are compared with experimental data and with results of the non-relativistic approach.

Covariant Linear Response Theory of Relativistic QED Plasmas

We start from the QED Lagrangian to describe a charged many-particle system coupled to the radiation field. A covariant density matrix approach to kinetic theory of QED plasmas, subjected to a strong external electro-magnetic field has recently been developed [1,2]. We use the hyperplane formalism in order to perform a manifest covariant quantization and to implement initial correlations to the...

Describing static correlation in bond dissociation by Kohn-Sham density functional theory.

We show that density functional theory within the RPA (random phase approximation for the exchange-correlation energy) provides a correct description of bond dissociation in H(2) in a spin-restricted Kohn-Sham formalism, i.e., without artificial symmetry breaking. We present accurate adiabatic connection curves both at equilibrium and beyond the Coulson-Fisher point. The strong curvature at lar...

Introduction to Schramm-Loewner evolution and its application to critical systems

In this short review we look at recent advances in Schramm-Loewner Evolution (SLE) theory and its application to critical phenomena. The application of SLE goes beyond critical systems to other time dependent, scale invariant phenomena such as turbulence, sand-piles and watersheds. Through the use of SLE, the evolution of conformally invariant paths on the complex plane can be followed; hence a...

Enhanced Spin Susceptibility toward the Charge-Ordering Transition in a Two-Dimensional Extended Hubbard Model

Based on the non-skeleton diagrammatic expansion satisfying the compressibility and spinsusceptibility sum rules, we investigate static charge and spin responses in a two-dimensional extended Hubbard model with the nearest-neighbor Coulomb repulsion in the vicinity of its charge-ordering transition point. In this expansion, we can calculate approximate charge and spin response functions by syst...

40 02 v 1 6 A pr 1 99 3 – 0 – The pion in electromagnetic and weak neutral current nuclear response functions

The impact of pionic correlations and meson–exchange currents in determining the (vector) response functions for electroweak quasielastic lepton scattering from nuclei is discussed. The approach taken builds on previous work where the Fermi gas model is used to maintain consistency in treating forces and currents (gauge invariance) and to provide a Lorentz covariant framework. Results obtained ...
